About the House
The Buck House is nestled on the banks of Bald Mountain Creek at an elevation of 3200 feet. The House was completely restored in accordance with historic rehabilitation standards in 2006-07. Most of the original chestnut wood was salvaged and refinished with painstaking care. Upstairs are four lovely bedrooms with private baths. Downstairs are the sitting room, music room, dining room, kitchen and office. The large porch, furnished with swings and chairs, is a wonderful place for relaxing and enjoying the sound of the creek.
A wide variety of birds, butterflies, and fireflies are present at various times throughout the year. The grounds are regularly visited by deer, which are often spotted from the porch while guests relax in the evening. The horses of Wolf Laurel Stables occupy the paddock from April until mid-November, weather permitting. All of this contributes to a truly idyllic setting.
